Be Frugal Today #30: Put a Power Strip in Every Room

Even electronics that are turned off can still be using electricity, sneaking power and driving up your utility bills.  These vampire taps are always drawing energy when they’re plugged in, and the number of appliances in your home which use energy even when turned off would shock you!

An easy solution for shutting down the free electric reign these appliances have on your budget is this: put a power strip in every room of your house and plug the appliances into the strip.  When you leave a room or leave the house, you just have to flip the switch on the power strips to turn off the availability of electricity to all the electronics in that area.
Since everything in your house that has a plug is a potential energy hog using your power even when turned off, this frugal tip to move your cords from outlets to power strips is a life saver!
