2009 Walmart Black Friday Sales Ad Flyer, Day & Times

I know a lot of us have been waiting to find out just how good the Black Friday sales would be this year.  If you’ve had your eye on big-ticket items, like TVs, DVD players, printers, video game consoles, computers, or video cameras, you’ll want to check out  the 2009 Walmart’s Black Friday Sales ad flyer, just released!

The sale starts at 5 AM Friday, November 27th (the day after Thanksgiving), and goes until 11am.  It is definitely worth getting up early to grab some of these sale prices.  There is WAY too much to list!  The day after Thanksgiving sales are your first chance to jump on unbelievably lowered sales prices for your Christmas shopping.

Black Friday sales shopping is definitely early in the morning and hectic, and no doubt the stores will be packed with fellow bargain hunters.  I may be the only frugal homemaker not out there braving the crowds to get my hands on some of these great Christmas presents at budget prices this year (I’m pregnant and my hubby said no for safety reasons).  But my husband will be out there black belt shopping!

Two tips for surviving Black Friday shopping:

1. Make a list before you go.  You may be running to the section to get your hands on an item with limited quantities, so make sure you go to the most important departments first.
2. Go to bed early the night before.  5 AM comes early, and people will probably be lined up outside the store waiting to get in when the store opens.  Being grumpy from lack of sleep will not make the stressful store any easier to deal with!

Page 4 of the guide is a great one with info on free shipping for your holiday shopping.  There is a list of free shipping sites, plus the information for Free Shipping Day, which takes place this year on December 17.  I love how they include sites for free kids’ stuff, including printables, coloring pages, paper airplanes, and more.

If I was able to use my monthly shopping budget on Alice, I’d make sure I got all my recurring items ordered so I never had to worry about running out.  This includes diapers, coffee, vitamins, etc. – you know, the things you know you always use.  Then I could use the remainder of my shopping budget to pick up other items that I could only get locally.

I love the Alice feature where you can set up reminders to reorder certain products.  This free feature is such a fast way to manage your home items online and save unnecessary trips to the store.

School Supplies

If you’re still looking for school supplies, CVS has some freebies only through Tuesday (8/18/09)—so hurry! See their ad here to see if there’s anything you still need. They are advertising filler paper, composition notebooks, pens, and pencil boxes free after Extra Care Bucks, and there are other items under 50¢.

You’ll have to put in your zip code in the upper right to get your specific ad. They also have printable store coupons on their site—a new feature since the last time I checked! This is right below where you put in your zip code.

Cheap Back to School Supplies

It’s almost back-to-school time—as unbelievable as that seems, and there have been some great freebies and “close-to-free” deals on school supplies in the drugstores and office supply stores lately. I hope you’ve been able to take advantage of these.

I didn’t have my kids’ school supply lists yet when many of these deals started, but I bought whatever was free or almost free anyway. I’ll be able to use most of what I got, and where I live there are plenty of places to donate extra supplies. Last week I wrote about Aldi. I hope some of you made the trip to your Aldi store (if you have one) or will consider it. I shopped there this past week, and got a loaf of bread for a little over a dollar, 64 oz. apple juice was $1.39, canned vegetables were 49¢, the big box (not sure of the count) of toaster pastries was $1.75, and I could go on and on.

Yes, I can get freebies and “almost freebies” with double and triple coupons, but not on all the items we use, and not all the time. Aldi is inexpensive and has good quality products, so I hope you’ll add shopping there to your list of ways to live frugally.

Kmart Double Coupons 7/6/09

K-Mart is doing super-double coupons again right now (7/6/09). It is very “hit and miss” (from what I can tell) on which stores participate. The best idea is to call ahead and find out.

You may also want to ask about printable coupons to find out what your store’s policy is about accepting them. There seem to be more and more restrictions on K-Mart’s policies in general about their double coupon days, including a new $25 minimum purchase requirement. I am not listing their deals this week, but feel free to comment below and let me know if you found any good bargains there.

Harris Teeter shoppers are in luck again! We’ve been enjoying triple coupons more and more frequently and now they’re offering “super doubles.”

This week, coupons are being doubled up to $1.98. I’ve never actually seen a coupon for $1.98—so they obviously want to keep it under $2.00, but there are lots of $1.50 coupons you’ll be able to use.

I’ll list a some of the better deals here, but my advice is to go through your coupons, and pull out anything between $1.00 and $1.98 to take on your shopping trip. If you can still get your hands on the Sunday paper in your town, this tip is for you.  The SmartSource coupons insert in last Sunday’s newspaper (6/14/09) has a load of great high value coupons, including a $2 off Purex Complete 3-in-1 laundry sheets coupon.

Fred Meyer grocery stores have the Purex Complete on sale for only $5.99 this week .  Combine that with a coupon and you’ve got $3.99 laundry supplies (which comes out to 16 cents per load).  Of course, not every newspaper carries the SmartSource coupon insert, but if yours does, this is one of those perfect opportunities to go buy 5 or so newspapers just to get the coupons!

I will start off this week with some good news and bad news. K-Mart is doubling coupons up to $2, but from what I can determine, only select stores are participating. Before you put together you list and gather your coupons, please call your local store to see if they are one of the participating stores.

I have great news! If you haven’t heard yet, triple coupons are back this week at Harris Teeter!

I’ll list some of the deals I found, but go through your coupons and grab those higher value ones that are close to, but still under, $1. Harris Teeter is tripling coupons up to $1 so those are the ones you really want to use.

Remember too that they allow up to 20 coupons per day, and two of those can be internet coupons, so plan your shopping accordingly. I always take along plenty of extra coupons since I find the best deals often sell out early. It seems like if you shop a couple of days in a row though you can get most, if not all, of what you’re looking for.
