Fried Ice Cream ~ The Lazy Way. We love Toni’s recipe for making this tasty summer time treat using Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal (which you can usually buy for free or nearly free by combining coupons with store sales). [Recipes]
Homemade Laundry Detergent recipe by Amy at Finer Things. Amy’s recipe for homemade laundry detergent includes photos as well. This was part of Family Friday a few weeks ago, but we had to mention it again because this detergent costs 1 penny per load! If you’ve got the time and patience to make your own homemade laundry detergent, this is definitely the way to go for us frugal homemakers. [Cleaning]
Let Toddlers Paint Inside a Wading Pool. Another wonderful tip from Asha and one that I’m definitely a fan of using. Toddlers can make crazy messes with paint, playdough, etc. Giving them inflatable walls will save your nice clean house from destruction and lower your blood pressure during craft time! [Kids]
Family Traditions: 10 Ideas To Get You Started is a fabulous article by guest poster Sherri at Simple Mom. She says, “Traditions don’t have to require a lot of planning. They can be as simple as having a movie and pizza night every Friday. Traditions are the glue that keeps a family together. We all have very busy lifestyles, and adding a small tradition here or there can make all the difference to your family.” [Family]
Frugal Flops from Phoebe at Cents to Get Debt Free. I’ve had a few frugal flops in my day, and I can relate to her list with a little too much familiarity! My last batch of porridge was a frugal flop when I ran out of wheat berries and tried to substitute lentils. Let’s just say it didn’t work (although my toddler still loved the porridge)! If you have a frugal flop, forgive yourself and just start over again. Life is a series of experiments, after all. We never know how they’ll turn out! [Frugal Life]

Target is offering free admission to museums all summer long! Get more info here to see participating locations. Thanks to Shynea for the heads up!
