First Impressions: LG 29EA93 UltraWide IPS Monitor
When my new LG 29EA93 IPS UltraWide Monitor arrived to test out, all I could think about was the sheer size of this monitor! Would it even fit on my desk?
The picture above, my friends, is the new 29” LG 29EA93 IPS UltraWide Monitor with Cinema Screen that is now sitting in my office. I’m testing out this sweet piece of electronics for LG and I have to say that my first impressions are pretty amazing.
I’m also doing a full review of this LG IPS monitor, so stay tuned to read my full review tomorrow of the monitor’s features, specs, and bundled software. (Did I mention I’m also giving one of these amazing monitors away to a lucky reader? Stay tuned later this week for the LG UltraWide IPS monitor giveaway!)
Do you see how WIDE it is?! That is a 21:9 UltraWide screen with dual link ups and screen splitting ability with up to a 4-way split. That means that you can connect 2 devices to the monitor at the same time (like your laptop and your camera) and have both displaying on your screen side by side!
If you multitask as much as I do, you probably have anywhere from 4 to 10 windows minimized in your tray at any time while you’re working. If you can have more windows on the screen at the same time, you should be able to save a lot of time from not having to minimize, maximize, and switch constantly.
Amazing Color with LED Backlighting
Wait – was my regular monitor even in color?! After getting the monitor set up and connected, I was blown away by the amazing color. Since I still had the screen showing on my laptop, I could see the difference between the same picture on my old screen and the LG EA93 UltraWide monitor.
Here are photos both taken with the same camera of a Thomas Kinkade painting on both my laptop screen and the LG UltraWide LED monitor.

Now let’s put the images side by side so we can compare the color:
The reds and yellows are so vibrant on the LED that they barely look like they had color on the laptop. The laptop version looks like a faded old piece of paper, while the LG monitor looks like an original painting.
