Inauguration Obamelets – Obama Family Omelets

Obamelets-Photo

We found a way to keep the Inauguration fun going with our exclusive recipe for Obamelets.  What is an Obamelet, you ask?  Obama + Omelet= Obamelet!  This great crafty cooking project is fun to do and will have your kids squealing in delight as the first family joins them for breakfast!  An Obamalet is made up of a regular omelet, filed with your favorite ingredients, and bacon (used as limbs). If you missed our Obama CHANGE Omelet Recipe for parents from yesterday, be sure to print it out now!

Recipe: How to Make Obamelets (Obama Family Omelets!)

Step 1.  Cook omelets and bacon as you would regularly.

Step 2.  Print out heads for your Obamelets by clicking the picture below.  The full-size page will open, with the heads the perfect size to fit your Obamelets! Print out the page and cut out faces for Barack, Michelle, Malia and Sasha Obama.

Step 3.  Cut each omelet into 4 pieces, including a rectangle out of the center section and 3 triangles from the rest. See photos below for cutting illustration.

Step 4.  Take your cooked bacon, and cut each piece in half (see photo below) using either a knife or kitchen scissors.  After you have all of your bacons cut in half, cut each piece again, this time length-wise.  You will be left with 2 skinny pieces out of each bacon-half that are the perfect size for limbs on your Obamelets!

Step 5.  Assemble your Obamelets!  Starting with one piece of omelet, place it on the plate.  Add arms by slipping the edge of the bacons underneath the omelet piece.  Do the same for legs.  Then move on to the other omelet pieces, repeating the process.  Lastly, take the printable Obama family heads you cut out earlier and set each one on top of its “body”.

Step 6.  Eat and enjoy!  Serve Obamelets to your kids as a great patriotic breakfast in celebration of Inauguration week!
