Frugal Home Haul – Tea, Scents & More {Video}

Here is my latest frugal home haul, complete with my new seasonal tea choices, air fresheners, picture frames, and more home decor items.

I love finding home décor and household items at extremely low prices, and dollar store shopping combined with clearance sale awareness allows me to keep a tight budget and not miss shopping!

Crazy Deals at Home Ever After – Progresso Soup for 88¢

Crazy Deals Progresso Soup Deal 88 Cents

Crazy Deals – Progresso Soup for 88¢

Progresso soup for 88¢:  Today’s crazy deal was one I found at Albertsons in August 2012.  The regular price of the Progresso Soup was $2.99, but I found an unadvertised sale that reduced the price to just 88 cents per can.  That’s a discount of $2.11 for each can of soup!

It’s always possible to save loads of money on grocery shopping by keeping your eyes open for crazy deals at the store.  Most of the nearly-free deals I show in Crazy Deals at Home Ever After are unadvertised specials and clearance deals that I happen on by accident.

By taking advantage of this soup deal, I was able to stock up my pantry with plenty of soup for less than a sale + coupon combo price.   What crazy deals have you found lately?

If you love to see just how it’s possible to save so much money, check out my other crazy deals I’ve scored over the years!

Crazy Deals at Home Ever After – A Dozen Donuts for 10¢

Dime a Dozen Doughnuts Home Ever After

Crazy Deals at Home Ever After – A Dozen Donuts for 10¢

Today’s crazy deal was one I found back in December of 2011.  No, I never forget a deal!

I always check the bakery clearance rack when I go to the grocery store and usually find pretty good deals.  This fantastic donuts deal, though, is the most shocking deal I ever scored!

You can see in the picture above that this boxed dozen assorted donuts (which as evidenced by the dates on the label) was only ONE DAY OLD.  However, instead of the regular clearance price of about $2, this dozen donuts was marked down to just 10 cents!

I bought five dozen clearance doughnuts at just 10¢ each so that I had plenty to share.

It pays to be on the lookout for frugal money-saving deals everywhere, because you just never know when you’ll stumble on something as amazing as dime a dozen doughnuts!

Welcome to the Be Frugal Today: 365 Days of Frugal Tips year-long frugal tips series!  I started the Be Frugal Today column on Home Ever After back in 2010 and decided in 2013 to make it into a daily frugal tips series to help you save money and get your frugal ideas flowing each and ever single day.

Yes, that means there is a new money-saving idea for each day of the year to keep you inspired. Many of us frugal moms end up in a rut where we forget all the frugal measures we’re already taking to save money. That puts us into a less-creative mindset, making it harder to think up new strategies for saving money, cutting back, pinching pennies, trimming the budget, or whatever you call frugal living in your family!

Ladies and gents, it’s time to be frugal today with Home Ever After, each and every day for the next year! Without further ado, let’s get onto the master list of my year-long frugal overhaul.  Many of the tips are organized seasonally to correspond with the weather, holidays or other events, so if you’re just jumping into the series, feel free to skip to today’s date instead of starting at Day 1.

If you’re enjoying this frugal series, look for my new book “Be Frugal Today: 365 Days of Frugal Tips” to be released in early 2014!

Be Frugal Today #30: Put a Power Strip in Every Room

Be Frugal Today #30 is how to save money on electricity when you put a power strip in every room.

Are you ready to be frugal today with Home Ever After?  Welcome to day 30 of 365 in the Be Frugal Today: 365 Days of Frugal Tips year-long frugal tips series.

Be Frugal Today Tip 30 Power Strip

Be Frugal Today #30: Put a Power Strip in Every Room

Even electronics that are turned off can still be using electricity, sneaking power and driving up your utility bills.  These vampire taps are always drawing energy when they’re plugged in, and the number of appliances in your home which use energy even when turned off would shock you!

Did you miss yesterday’s frugal tips?  Day 29 of 365: Declare a Pantry Challenge

An easy solution for shutting down the free electric reign these appliances have on your budget is this: put a power strip in every room of your house and plug the appliances into the strip.  When you leave a room or leave the house, you just have to flip the switch on the power strips to turn off the availability of electricity to all the electronics in that area.

Since everything in your house that has a plug is a potential energy hog using your power even when turned off, this frugal tip to move your cords from outlets to power strips is a life saver!

If you want to learn more about vampire taps, check out these posts:
