Free Childrens’ Books from Dolly Parton Imagination Library

My husband brought home a newspaper clipping about Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Over the years, I’ve come to have tremendous respect for Dolly Parton and the issues she champions. She wants to make sure kids learn to love reading and have books at home to read regardless of their families’ financial situations. Her foundation, the Imagination Library, allows you to sign up your child (under 5) and they will receive a FREE book every month until their 5th birthday!

Visit Dolly’s Imagination Library and register your child for FREE!  At the media center  watch a quick video of Dolly talking about her awesome program (and it even links to three kids’ songs she wrote). Three cheers for Dolly!

Editor’s Note: This article originally ran on April 5, 2008.  The program is still available, so please register your children in it! My son has received one hard-cover book each month since we started the program.

  2. My son is also loving his Imagination Library collection. He gets so excited to get books in the mail. He asked me who sent them to him and when I told him “Dolly Parton” he was thoroughtly confused. Oh well. He does love them and I’m glad that I’ll be able to (when he gets a tad older) explain why she sends out books to children.
