Comments Policy

Comments are welcome on Home Ever After.  I want to thank all of our wonderful readers who contribute with tips that help all of us grow from their experiences.  I love to hear from you and do my best to respond to your comments!
It’s pretty standard that we have a no-spam, no-troll policy on this site.  Most blogs have similar policies in that area.  However, I wanted to talk about our attitude towards negative and argumentative comments.
Mary Kay Ash (founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics) was a firm believer in positivity, and so am I.  HomeEverAfter.com is a positive, constructive, and helpful environment where we help people by imparting useful information and relevant life experiences.
If you disagree with something written on Home Ever After or have a different point of view, that’s fine.  That’s normal!  People don’t always agree about everything.  Human beings are of different minds, and that is precisely what makes us all unique.
However, if you have something negative to say, don’t say it here.  Negativity, ugliness, hate, hurtfulness and spite are not welcome on this site.  All comments which are not constructive (even criticism can be constructive) will not be published here – period.  Before you think that censorship is what we’re about (because we’re not), let me tell you why this policy is in effect.
If I could only choose the one most important thing I learned from Mary Kay Ash, it would be that I don’t want to ruin an experience for anyone else.  You never know what is going on in another person’s life; they might be terminally ill, or live in an abusive relationship, or have profound family loss to deal with, or feel hopeless in a dead-end job and impoverished home life.
Everyone has hardship in one form or another.  You never know if the 5 minutes a person spends reading HomeEverAfter.com is the only positive time of their day.  What if reading blogs is their only happy time, their only positivity, their spark of hope that keeps them going and helps them to persevere?
What if someone read a helpful article, then got to the end where someone posted a juicy negative comment about how worthless that article was?!  I’d say that would probably put a damper on their mood! I would never dream of ruining the positive, happy time that someone else has by putting negative things into it.
That, my friends, is why I don’t publish negative or argumentative comments (or articles, for that matter).  Home Ever After is a blog meant to lift people up, build people up, and make them feel powerful, strong and self-reliant.  This site is a place you can count on to be constructive, informative, helpful, and most importantly, positive.  You can count on the fact that no matter how bad life is for you, how hard things are, or how bad your day has turned out, the 5 minutes you spend here will be positive!

“For me, it’s that I contributed, … That I’m on this planet doing some good and making people happy. That’s to me the most important thing, that my hour of television is positive and upbeat and an antidote for all the negative stuff going on in life.”                                                                                     -Ellen DeGeneres

I was amazed to find that Ellen Degeneres had spoken my thoughts nearly word for word!  Her outlook mirrors mine, and positive contribution is always something to be proud of.
As always, we welcome your comments, tips and experiences.  Feel free to leave a comment today with article ideas, tips or questions.  Thank you all for making HomeEverAfter.com the positive community it is!

Homemaker Barbi; I just read this article, and I could not agree with you more. There is just too much hate, and nasty comments that are posted online, and also comments said to one another in Real time. I have always thought that some people just take the ball and run with it, if something Bad or a Lie even is said about someone else. Those are people whom I dislike with a passion.
I am one of the very few who does not Gossip. I have a high IQ level, also. It is proven that Gossip and such showes a lack of Inteligence. It bores me and I do not wish to hear lies or whatever about someone else. I state such if I am around anyone who wants to tell “Tall-Tales”.
The way I see it is like you, as I have my own burdens to bare, and I wish that other people thought like that also. It is so much easier to be kind than to be rude, mean or nasty to someone, but then again so many people seem to thrive and live on that.
I am so glad that you ONLY do post Positive comments from others, as what you said is so true. What if the only Joy and Peace that someone knowes is when they are online reading, or responding to others.
My own moto is this, “Judge not least yea be Judged.” I truly wish more folks thought like that……I also Always say this. “Try my shoes on for awhile, go for a long walk…..and see if you want your own shoes to wear again…..Walk in someone elses shoes, and see what they have to walk through before Judging them.” I personally believe that would be a good way to learn some life long lessons, and maybe some people would be a tad Nicer to others.
I am so glad that you are trying to make such a huge difference in so many other folks lives. Thank-You 😀 Sunny
