Comment Caboodle 6/21/08: The Best From Our Readers!
Welcome to the Comment Caboodle. We’ve prepared a collection of the best comments from the week from readers like you! If you have a tip to share, feel free to comment today.
On Storage Solution: Scanning Kids’ Art Projects:
Liberty: We have been archiving, if you will, DD’s artwork via photos – except the very special items!
Great way to keep them without ’storing’ them.
On 13 Easy Ways to Save on Groceries:
Di: I agree…but there are some things you shouldn’t buy the generic of. Razor blades. I can tell you from painful experience.
Homemaker Barbi wrote: LOL! My hubbie is doing his first generic razor experience right now – I was more afraid about it than he was! I agree, some things are ok for generics and some are just not!
Di: My mother would argue that it’s only Hellmans. Mayonnaise is something you don’t mess with.
ancsweetnsassygal: I love your list. I usually shop with a list, but if I forget it and ‘wing it’, I always spend more.
Pink Lemonade Liz: I especially LOVE Rainchecks! It’s kind of like your own private sale – they don’t expire and you can wait to use them until a great coupon pops up!
On The 99¢ Menu is Now the… $1.79 Menu?!”:
Niki: The bad news about Wendy’s bums me out. They used to be a go-to for us in a pinch because they are the least gross (in our opinion) out of all the fast food places and you could at least get decent salads, etc. for cheap. So long, dollar menu. I will miss you!
On 13 Best Baby Shower Gifts on a Budget:
Kat: I think that diapers were the best gift. When I had my girls I could not figure out why people bought stuff they wanted (like cute clothes) instead of stuff I would need – like diapers and wipes. And that date night care package is genius! (It could even be labeled as entertainment for that 2 am feeding! I cannot tell you how many movies I watched in the middle of the night!)
Kristie McNealy: As I was looking over the free or super cheap baby stuff I’ve gotten lately, I thought of another cheap idea. A baby blow out emergency kit… travel wipes, travel size diaper cream, small pack of diapers, and an inexpensive onesie. If you CVS, and watch for baby outfits on clearance, you could get all of this for a couple bucks. We even have a few onesies with the tags still on that we never used for our kids.
Bubba: I might need to bookmark this list. As a single, childless guy, this list is a big help for gift-giving! Thanks!!!
