Over the years since I started blogging, many of my favorite blogs have gone out of business for one reason or another. Call me sentimental, but I’ve always had a habit of keeping the blog farewell notes. Farewell notes are the final blog posts that says goodbye, usually remembers the good times, and explains why they won’t be blogging anymore.
I just came across this old blog goodbye note from Frugonomics when Marin shut it down on September 18, 2008:
So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Good Night
“This is the last post for me. With two little ones running around and a constant, insurmountable pile of laundry to tackle, this blog experiment of mine simply takes up more time than I ever thought possible. I have learned a great deal about couponing and bargain shopping over the past several months, and I have "met" some wonderful, friendly frugal bloggers along the way.
But after doing some thinking during the last month, I realize personal Bible study and going to (not to mention joining) a gym need to be moved a lot higher on my priority list! I imagine any free time will be spent playing with duplo and cars, and staring at that previously mentioned laundry pile.
I appreciate all the comments you have left and the encouragement you have given. I have been struggling for a while now about whether to quit blogging or not and my biggest concern was, vainly I suppose, that I would be letting the readers down. Fortunately for you, there is not a single thing I have posted about that someone else doesn’t also post about, and better!”
Frugonomics 101 and Marin, we miss you!
